Gearing Up

27 03 2008

Piñata + candy: check.

Pin the tail on the donkey: check.

Wacky sunglasses: check.

Harmonics: check.

…I’m making my way down the list of necessities for Slinky. Also have decided on my project du jour: writing. Something, uh, with words. It won’t be pretty, but it will be done. Hope you’re working on your own creative treat — see you soon.

SlinkyFest: Spring 2008

12 03 2008

That’s right. We’re on for the 3rd Annual SlinkyFest for Spring 2008:

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

If you’re not sure what SlinkyFest is, click here.

Otherwise, get into gear and start thinking of projects – you have less than 1 month to cull your creative crevices for an insanely-inspired initiative.

Details to come.

Another successful SlinkyFest! Thanks to all of those who showed up and participated in the fun creativity. Updates and pictures coming soon.

BBQ; Hot Tub

24 04 2007

We have a master BBQ-arian on board for Sat., so be very excited — requests taken.

And for those interested in taking a dip in the hot tub after all the excitement (all that creativity can wear ya’ out)…don’t forget to bring your bathing suit!

SLiNKYfest This Saturday 4/28 – 1 o’clockish

23 04 2007

You have one week to dot your i’s, tighten your screws, lace your sandals, water your plants, tune your pitchforks, splatter your paint, or do whatever else the hell you plan to do before we come together for a royal all out creative ex.tra.ve.gan.za THIS SATURDAY

Or, if you’re over the creative thing already, you can scrap the whole thing and just come for the beer (no! don’t scrap it!).

I — for one — am WAY behind on my project. But guess what? Projects, like people, come in all stages of completion, so if you’re like me and are far from finished — no worries. Bring anyways.

Looking forward to it!

Rolling on

16 04 2007

I’m getting wind of some wonderful projects-in-the-making. Slinkster Tiffany, rather slyly, will only disclose that her project is “interactive and has something to do with how we communicate;” Slinkster Ian was getting inspired by the musical genius of “Let’s Get Physical” at one point; and two Slinksters which will remain unnamed were going to attempt a cuddlefest to see how many hours it took until their cozy coitel turned to heated rage — wait, what? I don’t know, either. All in the name of “art,” I guess.

How Many Projects Can I Bring to SlinkyFest?

6 04 2007

Slinkster Jonathan has informed me that he’s to bring two projects, one of which is titled “The Domestication of the Common Wind Chime.” Fabulous.

If you’re unable to decide *what* amazing thing to do, or you just have so much creativity bursting out of you that you must create create create more than one project– please don’t limit yourself to a single one. We’ll take all the colorful inspiration we can get around here.

Official Invite

5 04 2007

This just in: Creativity is as cool as my cat’s pajamas.

WHO: You and any (any) one. Bring your self, friends, kids (free babysitting!), lovers, “sig others” and dentists

WHAT: SlinkyFest, a creative party, where we get inspired, and have fun, relax, “socialize” (you know, that thing people do in between work and sleep?)

WHERE: Chez DeJong – EMAIL FOR DIRECTIONS OR CARPOOL

WHEN: Saturday April 28, 2007 (main event day) – Sunday April 29, 2007 (spend the night and have breakfast in the sun if you like day) PLEASE RSVP :)

WHY: because all work and no play make you a dull toy
all work and no play make you a dull toy
all work and no play make you a dull toy
all work and no play make you a dull toy
all work and no play make you a dull toy

HOW: bring a project, and a readiness for fun. Project ideas are limitless and do not need to be completed, masterful, or technical. Last year projects included baking and cooking, crayon drawings, needlestich, poetry, architecture models, room instillations, a motor repair attempt, sketchings, paintings, unperformed music, a programmed videogame, and a grapefruit with toothpicks representing a hedgehog… just to give you an idea.

—–>>>If you can’t possibly be bothered to come up with a project, come anyway! And bask in the glow of creativity (and free food and drinks!) We won’t love you any less. (We may judge you,) but won’t not love you

Progress, New Contributor, Invitations this Week

2 04 2007

I’ve been speaking to folks and it looks like their gearing up for Slinky! I spoke with someone in SF who has already nailed down 7 pages using Slinky as motivator/deadline — that’s the spirit! I’ve finished recording all the audio for my grandfather’s memoir (my project), and have started transcribing and writing the first few pages.

I’d also like you welcome Elizabeth as another contributor/writer to the Slinky website.

Aaaand, expect “official” invitations out this week for the event itself with all necessary details

Keep up the momentum, kids!
